Generalized Mixed Integer Rounding Valid Inequalities

چکیده
We present new families of valid inequalities for (mixed) integer programming (MIP) problems. These valid inequalities are based on a generalization of the 2-step mixed integer rounding (MIR), proposed by Dash and Günlük (2006). We prove that for any positive integer n, n facets of a certain (n + 1)-dimensional mixed integer set can be obtained through a process which includes n consecutive applications of MIR. We then show that for any n, the last of these facets, the n-step MIR facet, can be used to generate a family of valid inequalities for the feasible set of a general (mixed) IP constraint, the n-step MIR inequalities. The Gomory Mixed Integer Cut and the 2-step MIR inequality of Dash and Günlük (2006) are simply the first two families corresponding to n = 1, 2, respectively. The n-step MIR inequalities are easily produced using closed-form periodic functions, which we refer to as the n-step MIR functions. None of these functions dominates the other on its whole period. Moreover, for any n, the n-step MIR inequalities define new families of two-slope facets for the finite and the infinite cyclic group problems.

Mixed n-step MIR inequalities: Facets for the n-mixing set
Günlük and Pochet [O. Günlük , Y. Pochet: Mixing mixed integer inequalities. Mathematical Programming 90(2001) 429-457] proposed a procedure to mix mixed integer rounding (MIR) inequalities. The mixed MIR inequalities define the convex hull of the mixing set {(y, . . . , y, v) ∈ Z × R+ : α1y + v ≥ βi, i = 1, . . . ,m} and can also be used to generate valid inequalities for general as well as se...
متن کاملValid inequalities for a single constrained 0-1 MIP set intersected with a conflict graph
In this paper a mixed integer set resulting from the intersection of a single constrained mixed 0-1 set with the vertex packing set is investigated. This set arises as a subproblem of more general mixed integer problems such as inventory routing and facility location problems. Families of strong valid inequalities that take into account the structure of the simple mixed integer set and that of ...

This tutorial presents a theory of valid inequalities for mixed integer linear sets. It introduces the necessary tools from polyhedral theory and gives a geometric understanding of several classical families of valid inequalities such as lift-and-project cuts, Gomory mixed integer cuts, mixed integer rounding cuts, split cuts and intersection cuts, and it reveals the relationships between these...

متن کاملMixing mixed-integer inequalities
Mixed-integer rounding (MIR) inequalities play a central role in the development of strong cutting planes for mixed-integer programs. In this paper, we investigate how known MIR inequalities can be combined in order to generate new strong valid inequalities. Given a mixed-integer region S and a collection of valid \base" mixed-integer inequalities , we develop a procedure for generating new val...
